Be On The Same Page As Your Travel Partner

The first thing you need to do to get prepared for full-timing is to make sure you’re on the same page with your travel partner.

This is so important to your ultimate full-time success. Many of us are wanting to travel with our spouses. Others of us may have a travel partner in the form of a friend or a parent or children. Some of us might even be solo.

So making sure that who you’re traveling with has the same or compatible dream, or idea of what the lifestyle is going to look like can make or break your full-time success.

Be sure to talk about the hard things with each other before heading into the full-time transition. Even as a solo traveler you will want to ask yourself certain questions to make you think deeper about the things that you are going to experience.

You may think you have the same idea but you don’t really know unless you talk about it with key questions that open up deeper conversations

Conversations like:

What is your ideal full-time day look like?  This will give you each a peek into each others expectations and give you insight into where you might need to adjust your perspective to compromise on what this will look like for you as travel partners.

Set Your Full-time Expectations

Another important aspect to full-time success  is to set expectations for what you think it’s going to be like. You need to acknowledge that things are going to be different and not the same as your sticks and bricks life. So changing your mindset is important.

The RV life is full of compromises and disadvantages and we are going to be covering those in depth in another episode. But start thinking now about what you expect your RV life to be like?

You are still going to have problems, you are still going to need a haircut, you are still going to have to go to the doctor, and it’s not 100% travel.

Managing your expectations is key to success in the full-time RV life.
