Where the Streets Wander Nov 2017 | www.streetswander.com

November started with us having a reservation at Gulf Shores State Park in Gulf Shores, Alabama.  Tiffin had done our repairs and we were happy but we had found a guy who would install a custom desk in our motorhome.  We really wanted to do this so we called to adjust our reservation and made a plan to wait for this contractor to get the desk made.

In the meantime, Luann's work needed her back in Asheville for a meeting, so we drove home to the family and work!  It was a great time to see everyone for a visit and even celebrate our son's birthday while we were there.

We returned to our campsite in Red Bay for the contractor to install our new desk!  We were so excited!  We needed a place to work while we travel and this fit the bill!  It turned out beautifully! See the befores and afters below.

On the left of the coach we replaced a recliner and a slider desk (not very functional for work) with two new recliners.  We relocated the TV that was above the cockpit into the desk with a lift to get it out of the way when we wanted to use it as a desk.  We removed the couch completely to put in the desk.  Most of the time the couch was piled with whatever we would drop there (it wasn't very comfortable).  We are giving up an extra bed but we felt this was a great compromise to get something so functional.

Before we left Red Bay, we did a tour of the Tiffin Motorhomes Factory.  It was a great tour!  The show you everything!  Nothing behind or hidden.  We got to witness the process first hand.  If you ever buy a Tiffin new, you can go to the factory and watch them build your coach.  You could walk in an original Allegro Motorhome –  It's pretty cool!

Luann also got a chance to start her RV driving lessons!  It wasn't as bad as she thought….but there still is a lot more to learn!

We finally arrived in Gulf Shores.  Bryan was very impatient because we were missing some great beach weather!  The wait was worth it.  Both for the weather and beach but most importantly the desk!  Our new desk set up rocks!

This state park is beautiful! It is very large and holds a lot of campers!  There are 25 miles of bike trails that are throughout the park.  We could even ride our bike to Starbucks (Bryan's one vice) !  We rode our bikes a lot!  This place is great!

We ate at some great places!  Our favorite was The Barefoot Island Grill!  We went there several times, it was really good!  Also, another restaurant worth mentioning was Lamberts.  They are the home of the throwed rolls!  We had no idea that they really throw the rolls at you!  LOL  They also come around to your table with pass arounds.  These are items (fried okra, fried potatoes, mac & tomatoes, black-eyed peas and cabbage) are brought by the table as you eat and you get as much as you want!  Don't go there unless you are really hungry!  Another place to visit for some fun and relaxation is The Gulf.  I wouldn't really call this a restaurant even though they do serve food but mostly its a bar with outdoor seating on the beach.  I was a beautiful experience at sundown.

We did a day trip to Dauphin Island from Fort Morgan.  We took the ferry across to the island and visited Fort Gaines.  We toured the fort that was operational during the Civil War.  It was really informational and greatly preserved.  It was worth time to visit.  We ate lunch on the island and drove out through Mobile and back around to Gulf Shores.
